Before opening my CAD software, I take time to understand exactly what you need, how the product will be used and any manufacturing requirements that need to be considered from the outset.

Accurate 3d cad modelling allows me to develop your concept into a detailed digital design before any physical parts are produced.

Working in 3D makes it easier to visualise assemblies, assess clearances, identify potential design issues and make improvements while changes are still straightforward. It also gives you a much clearer understanding of how your finished product will look and function.

As part of my CAD design services, I regularly produce models for electronic enclosures, mechanical components, bespoke equipment and complete product assemblies, helping clients transform ideas into accurate engineering models that are ready for manufacture. I also provide cad design for manufacturing, ensuring that every design is developed with production in mind rather than simply creating an attractive model.

Because I work independently, you always deal directly with the designer carrying out the work. There are no handovers between departments or account managers. Every decision is based on my own experience and understanding of your project.

Creating Accurate Manufacturing Documentation

A good CAD model is only one part of successful product development.

Manufacturers rely on clear technical documentation to produce parts accurately, making technical drawings an essential step in turning a concept into a manufacturable product. I provide 2d engineering drawing services and 2d drawings for manufacturing that include dimensions, tolerances, materials and any information needed for production.

Well prepared drawings reduce misunderstandings and help manufacturers produce components correctly the first time. They also make it easier to communicate with suppliers and ensure everyone involved is working from the same information.

Producing clear manufacturing documentation has always been an important part of my mechanical design services because it helps projects move smoothly from design into production.

Testing Designs with Rapid Prototyping

Before committing to manufacturing, it often makes sense to evaluate a design with a physical prototype.

I offer in-house FDM and SLA 3D printing services, allowing prototypes to be produced quickly for evaluation, design validation and preparing products for manufacture.Holding a physical model makes it much easier to assess size, fit, ergonomics and overall functionality. It also allows design improvements to be made before investing in production tooling or larger manufacturing runs.

Depending on the project, I can also produce small batches of 3D printed components for demonstrations, limited testing or specialist applications where low-volume production is appropriate.

Rapid prototyping gives clients greater confidence before moving to the next stage of development.

Bespoke Engineering Support

Not every project involves creating a completely new product.

Some clients come to me because they need custom jigs, fixtures or specialist tooling to improve manufacturing processes or testing procedures. Others require modifications to existing products or support developing ideas that have already reached the prototype stage.

As one of many freelance mechanical design engineers working across the UK, I focus on providing practical engineering support rather than offering services that sit outside my area of expertise.
